Africa International Design Awards 2026 — Winner, Product Design / People-Centric Design
Clover Desk is a modular collaborative workstation designed for six users and inspired by the geometry of the clover leaf. Six individual work positions are organized around a shared central core, creating a compact setting for focused work, face-to-face collaboration and flexible team interaction. Integrated power and connectivity, movable components and a mobile base allow the desk to adapt to changing workplace needs while maintaining a strong sculptural identity.
Collaborative Geometry
Inspired by the geometry of a clover leaf, the desk is organised radially around a shared central hub, distributing six work positions within a compact footprint. This arrangement keeps each user connected to the group while preserving a clearly defined individual workspace, making the desk suitable for collaborative meetings, teamwork and everyday office use.
Modular System & Mobility
Clover Desk is designed as a flexible workplace system rather than a fixed piece of furniture. The six workstations are organised around a central service core, while the individual desk elements can move through guided rails and wheels to adapt the configuration to different modes of work. Integrated power and data connections are concentrated within the shared core, keeping the workspace organised while supporting collaborative and individual use.
Material & Construction
Clover Desk combines layered timber surfaces with a metal support structure to create a warm yet technically precise workplace system. The construction integrates the worktops, intermediate shelves, guided rail components and mobile base into a single assembly, balancing structural stability, functionality and visual lightness.
From Design to Prototype
The project progressed beyond visualization into physical fabrication. The prototype tests the desk’s proportions, layered timber components, metal support structure and movable configuration at full scale, translating the digital design into a tangible workplace product.
International Recognition
Clover Desk was named a Winner at the Africa International Design Awards 2026 in the Product Design / People-Centric Design category, with additional recognition under Furniture & Lighting. The award recognizes the project’s combination of collaborative working, spatial efficiency, adaptability and product design innovation.
