The Adriatic Halo Ribbon explores a new vision of coastal architecture where maritime infrastructure, public life, and ecological sensitivity converge. Developed for the Smart & Sustainable Marina Architecture Competition 2026, the project reimagines Opatija’s waterfront through a continuous architectural ribbon connecting arrival, maritime learning, and sea discovery. Inspired by the relationship between the city and the Adriatic Sea, the proposal transforms the marina into a living public landscape.
A New Waterfront Continuum
The Adriatic Halo Ribbon redefines the marina as more than a nautical infrastructure: it becomes a continuous public landscape connecting the city, the coastline and the sea. Inspired by the fluid movement of the Adriatic waves, the project creates a new urban promenade where mobility, leisure, ecology and maritime culture merge into a single architectural gesture.
